Penne Arrabiata

·

My friends tell me it is an absolute crime that I have not tried Penne Arrabiata before now. And now that I have finally done so,I can completely understand why. How can one simple pasta dish carry so much punch and flavour? I have no idea, but I’m very pleased to bring you this low FODMAP Penne Arrabiata so that we may all enjoy it.

While a traditional Arrabiata sauce really only features onion, garlic, olive oil, tomatoes and chilli flakes, I’ve added a few more ingredients to add some flavour, as we’ll be removing the garlic and onion.Red wine and Worcestershire sauce add depth of flavour, and my best hack is touse garlic or onion infused olive oil to add back in some of those flavours, without the digestive upsets. And again, anyone on the low FODMAP diet may also be aware that spicy foods can be a trigger, so adjust the amount of red chilli flakes to suit your taste and needs.

This low FODMAP Arrabiata is a very simple and fairly quick sauce to make – perfect for easy weeknight dinners due to it’s small number of ingredients and very little fuss. Pair it with a glass of wine and you’re in for one hell of a dinner. It also keeps well for a few days in an airtight container, depending on how well your pasta of choice holds up overtime.
